Hey Guys!

Some new stuff...

"build" in LDraw
exported to 3dsMAX
due to bad import quality and resolution all parts were rebuild in MAX
rendered with FinalRender &FinalToon
final editing in Photoshop

Hope you like it.

Many of your models say rebuilt in max due to bad import.. is it possible to get a good import?

You'd be honest with me if only you knew.

Didn't this take like, forever? :S
I'm working on the model 8880 "Super Car" Right now in MLCAD, and with all these part I can't imagine having to rebuild it in 3ds max at all...
Did you use DAT2DXF to convert with?

No it didn't take that long :)

I used a Lightwave Exporter cause all 3ds Max exporter were crap. Then I used "Deep Exploration" to convert the Lightwave files directly into the *.max file format.

So did you just add details to the existing parts, or did you do an actual remake?

It`s a 100% rebuild. You can't use Ldraw parts for anything but reference for a rebuild. At least they are precise ;)
:iconelfenstein:
Hehe, yea. Hmm someone should port the LGEO library (high res part library for POV-RAY) to 3ds files, so we could use those instead... Or maybe have a snap/macro/tool script for building models inside 3ds max in the same way as LDRAW...
But one thing seams weird though, the parts lack the filleted edges, but the actual resolution of them seams high enough (about 16 poly's per circle, if you understand. Like, a hole is made up of 16 poly's or 32 faces) Maybe it's simply an importer problem. I noticed some sort of optimizing when I tried to use the DXF importer in 3ds max...
