I'm working on the model 8880 "Super Car" Right now in MLCAD, and with all these part I can't imagine having to rebuild it in 3ds max at all...
Did you use DAT2DXF to convert with?

I used a Lightwave Exporter cause all 3ds Max exporter were crap. Then I used "Deep Exploration" to convert the Lightwave files directly into the *.max file format.

But one thing seams weird though, the parts lack the filleted edges, but the actual resolution of them seams high enough (about 16 poly's per circle, if you understand. Like, a hole is made up of 16 poly's or 32 faces) Maybe it's simply an importer problem. I noticed some sort of optimizing when I tried to use the DXF importer in 3ds max...
